So we officially have our flights to and around Europe. So naturally, already being in full planning mode, I must figure out the entire trip. I’m a planner, what can I say?
In the last 2 months I’ve been able to get a good idea of our transportation and booked our award hotel nights. So let’s look at what I have so far for hotels!
Milan: Sheraton Diana Majestic
Our first night will be with SPG at the Sheraton Diana Majestic. We got a preferred room and paying with points, aka free!! This one is close to the train station which will be nice.
Zurich: Sheraton Zurich Neues Schloss Hotel
For our second night we picked this Sheraton, also with SPG. It will be our most expensive SPG award night but it was the only centrally located hotel in Zurich, and well it’s Switzerland after all. This hotel’s location will allow us to walk around Zurich before taking a late train to Paris.
Paris: AirBnB
This will be our view from our room in Paris for three nights! As we researched Paris, once we realized we could stay here for more than two nights, using points wasn’t going to be as easy. So I looked at other options and found this beautiful view for less than $400 for three nights. We will take that!!
Amsterdam: Andaz Amsterdam Prinsengracht
Trip Advisor: #7 hotel in Amsterdsm
This hotel wins for best bang for your buck when it comes to redemptions. With the Hyatt card we got two fee nights, saving over $1000 for both nights. This is also the “coolest” hotel too. It allows us to book services like tours and a complimentary travel kit from a special website for our reservation.
Stockholm: Stallmästaregarden, Stockholm, A Member Of Design Hotels
Trip Advisor: #20 hotel in Stockholm
This will be a unique hotel for us. Originally we were not planning on using points in Stockholm due to the point values being a bit overpriced. Then in March, SPG started a designer hotel redemption and this beautiful hotel was on the list within our point budget!! It’s a bit out of the city, but when we will only spend mainly one day in the city, I won’t mind being closer to the airport for the night.
Overall, we have managed to book 5 nights absolutely free! These six nights totaled almost $2,000 saved. Of course if we had to pay outright we would have spent closer to probably $800-$900 at other hotels. But that is why we love using points from our everyday purchases!
This leaves us having $8,000 in travel and accommodation covered win credit card points. And these are our everyday spending, no debts!
